MATIES GEMEENSKAPSDIENS PRIMARY HEALTH CARE CLINIC
MGD-Matie Gemeenskapdiens or Matie Community Service is an NPO situated at the Tygerberg Medical Campus that provides free clinics to the Kalkfontein area as well as visits to the Sarepta old-age home.
The aim of this service provision is to interact with a community in their specific context through the provision of health promotion and education in order to empower this community to improve and maintain their own development and well-being, thereby creating the hope of a sustainable future.
Our service includes medical consultations, physiotherapy and speech-language and hearing services. Our medical strategy favours prevention of disease over curative management, hence the strong focus on health promotion and education.

With access to the right resources, the people of Kalkfontein can also become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential through their own initiatives.

SAREPTA OUTREACH
Once a month, we also visit the Sarepta old-age home to spend some quality time with the residents there. As students, we may not have finanial resources to hand out, but we can offer up our time and love every once in a while to make a difference.
